While Momentums’ broker network partners are nearly all focussed on commercial business, we firmly believe that having a personal lines capability is invaluable for an independent broker. We don’t advocate personal lines as a main focus for all – competition is far too great and margins too low in most instances – but having the ability to look after household, private car or travel insurance for your commercial connections can be essential: –
- Many business owners want all their insurances in one place and often make little distinction between their company and their own assets. The ability to service all a client’s requirements under one roof can be a great selling point.
- It is a great way of protecting your relationship with the client. Allowing a third party to look after personal insurances can provide an opportunity for them to go after the commercial business.
- If you refer your clients to a dedicated personal lines provider, they may not treat them with the same care you would. After all, the personal lines provider doesn’t have the same incentive. This risks not only damaging their relationship, but yours too.
So, giving away an important relationship doesn’t make much sense to us. Instead, we help our partners to provide great personal lines advice and policies for their clients. Whether it’s getting the best from E-trading through Acturis or dealing with insurers on complex High Net Worth enquiries, our personal lines experts are on hand to help in any way we can. To ensure we are all on the right side of compliance, we don’t need our partners to do anything apart from use the templates and processes that we provide.
No matter how much help you need, we don’t make charges or take additional commissions we just think that’s our job – and it’s your business, your client and your choice.
